Brut Grande Cuvée Premier Crù
61,00 €
Christine Arlaux Marechal and her brother Philippe preserve ancient traditions based on love for the land and dedication to craftsmanship. Arlaux champagnes, far from trends and large-scale distribution, conquer refined palates all over the world, becoming, among other things, the Champagne of the Japanese royal family.
The Arlaux vineyards have a thousand-year history dating back to 1176 when they were acquired by the Abbey of Saint-Remi. In 1240 two presses were introduced and the wines were sold at fairs. In 1629, Vincent Arlaux took over the wine trade under the brand name “Royal Abbey of Saint-Remi”. After the Revolution Jean and Nicolas Arlaux took control of the family estate and the first bottles of Champagne appeared in 1826, alongside the barriques of still wines. After a century of wars and destruction caused by phylloxera, in 1920 Gaston Arlaux rebuilt the winery and resumed the production of Champagne.
Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and above all Pinot Meunier are the grapes grown in Vrigny, a village classified as Premier cru, not far from Reims. Only the first pressing is used for all cuvées. Non-vintage Bruts age for a minimum of 3/4 years. The Arlaux name currently boasts fifteen generations in the heart of one of the oldest vineyards in France, classified as premier cru and cultivated without the use of pesticides since 1997.
