Sauvignon Blanc “Cicinis” Collio DOC 2023
28,90 €
The property covers an area of 44 hectares on terraced slopes located west of Gorizia. This area enjoys a southern exposure which protects it from the cold northern winds and the famous Trieste bora. This territory is particularly suitable for the cultivation of vines and, since the end of the nineteenth century, has contributed to making Friuli Venezia Giulia one of the first wine-growing regions in Italy.
The first document confirming the presence of land dedicated to viticulture in the Collio dates back to the year 1106 and refers to the Attems dynasty. The production of wines such as Ribolla Gialla and Refosco is noted in the accounting registers as early as 1764. This long tradition sees Count Douglas Attems as a key figure: in 1964 he founded the Consorzio dei Vini del Collio, third in Italy in order of time and first in Friuli. Since 2000 Attems has been owned by the Frescobaldi family.
The winery is immersed in an uncontaminated natural environment characterized by a rich biodiversity, aspects of great importance for the cultivation of vines. Recently, the agronomic practice of green manure has been adopted, which consists of burying specific crops to preserve the fertility of the soil. The three peculiarities of this territory lie in the composition of the soil, the temperature variations and the abundant brightness.
