The products of Bajola
The History
Daughter of a native of the island, as well as director of ONAV, Alice Iacono was born in Riva del Garda, but since she was a child she dreamed of becoming a wine producer in the land of her origins; after a career as a dramaturgical actress, in 2013 she was making her old dream come true; with just over half a hectare of vineyard in Forio d’Ischia, Alice produces authentic, timeless wines, far from trends or artifices, clinging deeply to the traditions of the island, like the roots of its vines.
Terroir & Winery
The terroir of the estate is composed of sandy and volcanic soils, distributed in terraces defined by green tuff walls. Both in the vineyard and in the winery Alice combines craftsmanship and tradition, eco-sustainability and biodynamics; all the processes are carried out by hand, without invasive interventions, the vinifications are accompanied by long macerations, with spontaneous fermentations and without the use of external oenological products; palmenti (stone tanks for winemaking directly in the vineyard) and tiani (terracotta containers of the same shape and size as the barriques) are used.
