The History
One of the oldest wineries in Valtellina, Balgera began its activity in 1885 with the founder Pietro, who produced and traded wine with Switzerland. After five generations, today the estate is managed by Paolo with his sons Matteo and Luca, in continuity with the centenary family tradition.
Terroir & Winery
Only Nebbiolo grapes grown on the steep slopes of Valtellina, without the use of herbicides and pesticides, harvested by hand and selected on the vine; pressing and spontaneous fermentation in steel, natural decantation in vitrified concrete tanks; long refinements in large Slavonian barrels, lasting an average of 10 years. These are the essential and traditional procedures through which Balgera delivers its wines to us.
