The History
It was Clemente Biondi Santi who undertook the first experiments that ultimately led to the creation of Brunello. Convinced of the extraordinary qualities of the Montalcino terroir, he dedicated himself to the careful selection of the best Sangiovese strains, capable of producing intense, elegant and long-lived wines. This long commitment in the vineyards led to the isolation of a particular clone of Sangiovese Grosso, Brunello Biondi Santi 11, which forms the basis of the winery’s prestigious wines.
Terroir & Winery
The estate is located in the south-eastern area of the Montalcino hill, in a particularly suitable and always well-ventilated area. The soils are poor and stony, with a predominance of marl. In these conditions, Sangiovese expresses itself with elegance and precision, producing grapes of extraordinary balance. For seven generations the estate has been managed with the same dedication and attention, with the constant aim of producing wines of absolute excellence.
