Candialle is located at the southern end of the Conca d’Oro, just below the town of Panzano in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti Classico, and has been run since 2002 by Josephin and Jarkko; she is German, he is Finnish, in love with Italy and viticulture, they have created a reality of complete integration and respect for the environment, with organic processing in the field and without sophistication in the winery.

The History
Jarkko built close relationships with Italians while studying in Holland, then visited Italy during a grape harvest and ended up staying for 5 years working with a small producer in Chianti Classico; his wife Josephin comes from a family of German brewers and, having grown up in the countryside with the smell of beer in her nose, always wanted to dedicate herself to agriculture; they met and got to know each other in Italy and in 2002 they bought their farm.
Terroir & Winery
Candialle is an ancient place for growing vines and olive trees, first mentioned in 14th century documents and officially mapped in a 1716 census. It is located on the southern tip of the “Conca d’Oro”, an amphitheater of vines just below the town of Panzano, in the heart of Chianti. The farm is surrounded by woods, 20 of the 48 hectares they own are wooded, as well as meadows, Mediterranean scrub and olive trees. They have been working organically since the beginning and have been certified since 2019; produce their own organic fertilizers, do not plow the soil and use plant cover to support biodiversity; they have animals and collect all their pruning clippings for compost, as well as pomace.
