Pinot Nero “Alfero” Asti DOC 2006
14,90 €
The farm focuses on promoting the Barbera grape variety, the most cultivated by the winery, positioned on the land with the best exposure. The older vineyards are specifically intended for the production of the prestigious Nizza DOCG wine.
Founded in 1900, Cascina Garitina is a family-run agricultural business that has reached its fourth generation with Gianluca Morino, the current owner, supported by Pasquale, Alessandra, Gaia and Veronica. The winery takes its name from great-grandmother Margherita, whose nickname “Margheritina” in dialect is “Garitina,” who started the business.
The vineyards are located in the heart of Alto Monferrato, in the southern part of the Nizza DOCG, with 85% Barbera and the remaining 15% varieties such as Brachetto, Dolcetto, Pinot Nero, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The oldest vineyards, dating back to 1939, 1951 and 1969, are dedicated to the production of Nizza. This Barbera is cultivated strictly according to a specific and restricted specification, exclusively on the hills of the 18 municipalities surrounding Nizza Monferrato, recognized as the original cradle of Barbera.
