Cacchiano Castle stands in the evocative natural setting of the southern part of Chianti. The estate was also owned by Baron Bettino Ricasoli in the 19th century, great-great-grandfather of the current owner, known as the “Iron Baron”. He was a pioneer of innovation in Tuscan viticulture and the creator of the definition of the blending of Chianti wine.

The History
For over a millennium, the Ricasoli family, of ancient Lombard nobility, has owned this magnificent estate. The modern winery, with the “Castello di Cacchiano” brand, came to life in 1974 when Elisabetta dei Conti Balbi Valier inherited the property from her husband, Baron Alberto Ricasoli-Firidolfi, father of the current owner Giovanni, after centuries of activity family winemaking.
Terroir & Winery
The farm, located in one of the most prestigious areas of the entire Chianti Classico, covers an area of 200 hectares, of which 30 are dedicated to vineyards, while the rest is divided between olive groves (around 5000 plants), arable land and woods.
