Charlotte Horton, better known as Lady di Potentino, runs this splendid winery, which is part of the Montecucco DOC, in the municipality of Seggiano, in the province of Grosseto, on the slopes of the Amiata. Here the volcanic soils, rich in minerals, allow the production of wines of extraordinary minerality and finesse.

The History
Grandmother Helga Guinness arrived from London in Maremma following an interest from an enigmatic lady she met in Greece, and shortly afterwards she purchased the Montepò Castle, renovated and then sold to Biondi-Santi. Finally, in 2000, the family decided to purchase the Potentino Castle, just outside Seggiano, at the foot of Mount Amiata.
Terroir & Winery
The land is located in a sheltered valley used since Etruscan times for the production of wine. The vineyard is located just 350 meters away but benefits from the typical conditions of higher altitudes, being directly below Mount Amiata and receiving the cool winds coming down from the mountain at night. Sangiovese, Pinot Noir and Alicante are cultivated with the utmost naturalness. Indigenous yeasts, no fining, light and mechanical filtration, very little sulphur.
