The History
Castello Rametz’s roots date back to 1227, when its relevance in local wine culture was first mentioned. In 1860, this place marked the first ever cultivation of Pinot Noir in Alto Adige. Since 1972, the Schmid family has taken care of the Castello Rametz vineyards, in perfect harmony between tradition and innovation.
Terroir & Winery
The Castello Rametz estate in Merano is located on a moraine hill formed in the last ice age, with well-drained soil and protected to the north by the high peaks of the Tessa Group. This privileged position allows Guyot cultivation, producing high quality grapes which are then vinified in the winery using cutting-edge techniques.
