In the castle that was owned by King Charles Albert of Savoy, the Burlotto family has been producing wines since the beginning of the twentieth century, following tradition, with a natural approach and vast expertise.
Verduno Castle was built in 1500 and since then it has gone through various events and different ownerships over the centuries. In 1838 it was purchased by King Carlo Alberto of Savoy who entrusted the management of the estate and the winery to General Carlo Staglieno, a famous winemaker; here General Paolo Francesco Staglieno, wine technician, experimented with the first vinifications of Nebbiolo according to the indications of Giulia Falletti Colbert, laying the foundations for today’s Barolo. In 1909 the Burlotto family acquired the castle and the land, and is still the protagonist of this long tradition today.
The vineyards are located around the Verduno Castle, where the aging winery for the bottles is located, and in Barbaresco, where the winemaking winery is located; the approach is traditional, with fermentation in open vats and long refinements in large oak barrels.
