The products of Castello Pomino
The History
Pomino Castle has a history dating back to the 1500s and has always been known for the excellence of the place in which it is located. Significant evidence comes from 1716, when Grand Duke Cosimo III de’ Medici identified the four Tuscan areas most suitable for wine production. This document, considered the precursor of the DOC classification, indicates the territory of Pomino together with Chianti, Carmignano and Val d’Arno di Sopra.
Terroir & Winery
Pomino Castle stands on the Apennines east of Florence, immersed in an enchanting landscape characterized by rich vegetation of fir and chestnut trees. Its vineyards occupy some of the highest positions in Tuscany, exceeding 700 meters above sea level and enjoying a fresh and well-ventilated local climate. In 1855, in this region, varieties of grapes considered unusual at the time were introduced by the Frescobaldis, such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
