The History

In the past, local winemakers used to manage small parcels of vineyard for themselves. It was the Parish Priest of Morgex who united the small winemakers in a common commitment, creating the association from which the Cave du Vin Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle was born in 1983; Now renamed Cave Mont Blanc de Morgex et La Salle, it includes 80 members and an annual production of 140,000 bottles.

Terroir & Winery

The Morgex and La Salle vineyards are cultivated with Prié Blanc, a native variety capable of challenging the extreme conditions of high altitude; with a short vegetative cycle, it germinates late to avoid frosts and matures quickly to escape the snow. It grows between 900 and 1100 meters on rocky terrain, requiring terracing and manual maintenance. This is clearly heroic viticulture.
