Chaude Ecuelle means “hot bowl” and refers to the practice of vineyard workers heating their meals in earthenware containers. We are in a lieu-dit south of Chablis, where the various scattered parcels managed by the domaine are located.

The products of Chaude Ecuelle
The History
The Vilain family has been in the world of viticulture for generations. The brothers Henri and Clovis Vilain, born in 1907 and 1911, implemented and expanded the vineyard. The next generation, with Gabriel and Lucette, began bottling wine. The Domaine de Chaude Ecuelle today honors the founders by giving some parcels the name of those who planted them, such as the Henri vineyard and the Clovis vineyard.
Terroir & Winery
The Chaude Ecuelle vineyards produce grapes that give the wines, in addition to very high quality, important mineral and iodine notes, together with the characteristic acidity typical of Chablis. Limestone soils, also rich in marine fossils, and the expert hand of the winery, give these wines a unique and distinctive character.
