Descending south-east from Beaune for about forty kilometers you come across an old and picturesque farm called Les Granges-Bernard, behind the village of Menétru-le-Vignoble, in the Jura. It is here that Marie-Pierre Chevassu-Fassenet produces her wines and has been bottling them under her name since 2008.
Marie-Pierre Chevassu-Fassenet grew up working daily on the family farm with her parents and three sisters. Towards the end of the 1980s her father took over a couple of hectares of vineyards and Marie-Pierre immediately began working in the vineyards; the love for work in the vineyard and for the ancient tradition of wine in Jura led Marie-Pierre to become a winemaker and, after her studies and experience in the field, in France and abroad, she took the reins of the family business. From 2008 onwards all the wines produced by the Domaine are bottled under the name Marie-Pierre Chevassu-Fassent.
Keen to keep the Domaine small and a lover of traditional Jura wine, Marie-Pierre has changed little at the Domaine since taking control. Marie-Pierre and a part-time employee manually hoe and care for the 4.5 hectares of vines. Agriculture was converted to organic, but Marie-Pierre did not seek certification. For 2.5 hectares he introduced phytotherapy techniques, using fermented plant preparations instead of copper and sulfur to control diseases.
