The History
In 1868 the Rothschild family purchased the historic estate founded by Jacques de Segur in 1670, known throughout the world for the legendary Chateau Lafite. Since then the Barons de Rothschild have been at the top of the hierarchies of international prestige and excellence. They thus acquired other Chateaus in Bordeaux such as Duhart Milon, L’Evangile and Rieussec and, during the following five generations, other realities in France and South America (Aussieres, Los Vascos and Bodegas Caro).
Terroir & Winery
The Rothschild family places respect and valorization of the terroir at the center of its work. At each of their estates, the soils and plants are of the highest quality, producing excellent grapes that allow for delicate winemaking with little intervention. This approach allows their wines to fully express the characteristics of the territories of origin.
