The products of Fondo Dei Barbera
The History
The history of Fondo dei Barbera begins in 1961 with Pietro Barbera, who purchased an old farmhouse with one hectare of vineyard. It will be his son Claudio who will give the winery a qualitative change, availing himself of the consultancy of the oenologist Salvatore Martinico for the winemaking, a friend who, together with Claudio, shares the love for this small Sicilian wine winery. In 2008 they decided to bottle the wine produced; the only label, with a production of 1264 bottles, was awarded at the national “Douja D’Or” competition in Asti.
Terroir & Winery
The hill is located in Faro Superiore at an altitude of over 150 meters above sea level, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Ionian Sea. Here the climate gives the grapes unique and unrepeatable organoleptic characteristics. The winds coming from the seas of the strait delicately caress the vines, helping to protect them from excessive humidity.
