The History
Cantina Haderburg was founded in 1976 by Alois Ochsenreiter, then a grape and apple grower, who had the intuition to convert the winery to wine production; after the first experiments his grapes turned out to be particularly suitable for sparkling wine production with the classic method. With the purchase of the Hausmannhof farm in 1985 he was able to exploit some of the most suitable vineyards in the region for the production of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Today Alois is supported by his wife Christine and his children Hannes, oenologist, and Erika, agronomist.
Terroir & Winery
Above Salorno, in the Few hamlet, at 400m above sea level, there is the Hausmannhof farm, the true heart of the winery, where the pedoclimatic conditions are optimal for the production of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to be transformed into surprising bubbles. For secondary fermentation, the wines rest in the bottle on the yeasts for 24 to 96 months, with remuage still carried out by hand in wooden pupitres, according to tradition and great skill. The winery has been practicing biodynamic agriculture for twelve years.
