Grand Crù “MV17 Fut de Chene”
197,10 €
“Pleasantness, maturity, territory“, this is the motto of Champagne Henri Giraud; managing to have richness and complexity, but without sacrificing drinkability.
Founded in 1625 by the Hémart family in Aÿ, the winery experienced significant development in 1900 thanks to the union between Madeleine Hémart and Léon Giraud. Léon recognized the exceptional nature of the land and proceeded to replant the vineyards devastated by phylloxera. Currently, Champagne Henri Giraud is under the leadership of the twelfth generation of the Hèmart-Giraud family, with Claude Giraud, a winemaker trained in Burgundy, who has made Champagne Henri Giraud one of the best Champagne producers in the world.
Since 1990, the use of barriques produced with wood from the Argonne forest, located 60km east of Reims, has become part of all the Cuvées produced by Henri Giraud; because for Claude Giraud “even forests have a terroir like vineyards” and “there are no great wines without great wood”. Furthermore, since the 2016 harvest the winery has abandoned vinification in steel, making wine exclusively in wood from the Argonne forest or in terracotta amphorae.
