In the 1970s the family home was known as the “Privada della Maestra”, so called because grandmother Hedvika was well known both as a teacher at the primary schools of San Floriano and for the excellent vegetables she brought to sell “in the square”, at the Covered Market in Gorizia. The oldest vines, planted by grandfather Mirko, date back to 1978 with half a hectare of Riesling Italico, a variety particularly widespread in these areas during the Austro-Hungarian Empire and which very few still cultivate today. Over the years, another two hectares of vineyard have been added.
