The History
The Maison Krug was founded in Reims back in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a young German who moved to Paris and came into contact with the world of Champagne. Six generations of the Krug family have perpetuated Joseph’s dream of creating the best champagne in the world. Today the winery, owned by the LVMH group, is led by Olivier, who continues the mission of the maison, enriching the vision and savoir-faire of the founder.
Terroir & Winery
Krug’s philosophy consists of harvesting each of its 250 parcels individually and transforming it into a wine in its own right, capable of expressing its own distinctive characteristics, nuances and uniqueness. Each base thus produced will contribute to the assembly of the Vintage or, drawing on the depth of ten vintages, to the Grande Cuvée. The two Clos, Clos de Mesnil and Clos d’Ambonnay, from a single plot and a single vintage, are an exception.
