Montenidoli is a reality located in San Gimignano, facing the Chianti Classico, between the cities of Florence and Siena. It is an uncontaminated land, rich in oak and holm oak forests, maritime pines and Austrian pines, Mediterranean scrub, olive trees, and of course… vines.
Montenidoli is a wonderful area located on the outskirts of the medieval city of San Gimignano. The first vineyards and olive groves here were planted by the Etruscans, followed by the Romans and later by the Templar monks. The winery was founded in 1965 by Elisabetta Fagiuoli together with her husband Sergio Muratori, a great man who passed away in 2012. Elisabetta, with a family winemaking tradition dating back to 1600, dedicated herself with great enthusiasm to serving this territory, respecting its values and tradition.
The lowest part of the winery land dates back to the Quaternary period and is composed of limestone sediments deposited by the Ligurian Sea, which give the white wines aroma and character. Higher up, the land dates back to the Triassic period and is the oldest in Tuscany, rich in minerals and of great value for the production of red wines. The care of the vineyards follows the organic farming method, without the use of herbicides or chemical products. The selected grapes are vinified exclusively with indigenous yeasts.
