Chianti Classico Riserva “Vigna Seretina” DOCG 2017
30,60 €
In Gaiole in Chianti, from the summit of the highest vineyard in Monterotondo at 575 meters above sea level, the panorama extends from the north-east towards the Apennines and continues towards the south-east in the direction of Arezzo, the sun shines strongly and the winds blow dry and healthy.
Monterotondo has origins linked to Saverio Basagni’s grandfather, who in 1959 purchased the estate from Badia a Coltibuono. Saverio studies oenology and gains experience in various Chianti wineries. He then worked for a period in the family mineral water winery in Florence, but his path was different; he leaves his job in Florence and decides to dedicate himself to renovating the vineyards in the old family estate, also completing the restoration of the old farmhouse, now the main residence and headquarters of the winery. The first wine bottled as Monterotondo dates back to the 2003 harvest.
The vines are perfectly exposed and receive sun from the first light of the morning. The vineyards reach an altitude of 575 meters and the winds blow fresh and dry from the Apennines, keeping the grapes healthy and giving strong temperature variations. Sandstone and stone-rich terrain completes the picture.
