Botticino DOC Gobbio 2021

The roots of the family are like the roots of the vine in marble. The Noventa family has been cultivating their own vineyards on the Botticino hills for generations, the same ones from which the famous white marble is extracted.
The Noventa family’s passion has very ancient roots: towards the end of the 19th century, Pierangelo’s great-grandparents cultivated vines on the difficult slopes of Botticino, living in small houses on the hills, close to the vineyards and far from the town centre. In the Seventies, the difficulties of working on the sloping steps and the high production costs convinced many farmers to abandon the vineyards. It is in these years that Pierangelo instead decides to dedicate his life to viticulture and the recovery of the vineyards, mindful of the past years in which Botticino wine was the protagonist in the taverns of Brescia and its province. For several years Pierangelo has been supported by his daughters Alessandra and Rossella.
The marly soil composed of limestone, marble and clay dates back to the Jurassic period (210-185 million years ago). The vineyards are located in three sub-areas, each with its own peculiarities: Pià de la Tesa, Gobbio, Colle degli Ulivi and a light breeze from the high hills always caresses the entire area. In the winery, punching down and pumping over are used, and racking is carried out by hand with buckets. The selected yeasts are specific to the vines that make up the Botticino DOC.
