“Cascina Fiori” Moscato d'Asti DOCG 2022
16,93 $
That of the Oddero family is a historical reality among those of Barolo, with the first vinifications attested towards the end of the eighteenth century. In 1878 Giacomo Oddero (1851-1915), ahead of his time, decided to bottle his wines under the family name, starting a story that has now continued for seven generations.
The recent history of the winery is linked to Giacomo Oddero, born in 1926 and grandson of the founder of the same name. Since the 1950s, Giacomo has renovated the ancient farm and has been committed to promoting the wines, not only those of the winery, but of the entire Province of Cuneo. He has held public roles, including provincial councilor for agriculture, contributing to the assignment of DOC and DOCG to Langhe and Roero wines, as well as regulations for various agricultural products, such as cheeses, hazelnuts and vegetables. Giacomo Oddero’s legacy is today taken up and carried forward by his daughter Mariacristina, who joined the winery towards the end of the 1990s, and by his grandchildren Isabella and Pietro, who represent the seventh generation.
The vineyards of Cantina Oddero are located in some of the most prestigious areas of the Barolo denomination, including Rocche di Castiglione, Bussia, Villero, Brunate and Vignarionda. Since 2011, under the guidance of Mariacristina, the winery has operated organically, without the use of chemicals or herbicides. The winemaking takes place in both wood and steel, while large oak barrels from Austria, Slavonia and France are used for refinement.
