Okro’s wines
Okro’s Wines is a small winery dedicated to the artisanal production of wines from native varieties of eastern Georgia. It is owned by John Okruashvili, born and raised in the Kakheti region, a lifelong friend of Ketevan, the wife of John Wurdemann (founder of Pheasant’s Tears), thanks to whom he began to become interested in winemaking; after 5 years of experiments, he founded the winery in 2009. The grapes are grown organically and processed without chemical additives. The winemaking takes place in traditional qveris, the large underground terracotta containers of the Georgian tradition, also used for refinement.
