The Orlandi Contucci Ponno agricultural winery is located in Roseto degli Abruzzi, in the heart of the Colline Teramane Docg denomination. Located a couple of kilometers from the Adriatic and less than twenty kilometers from the Gran Sasso chain (2920 m), it enjoys an excellent terroir thanks, on the one hand, to the thermoregulatory action of the sea and, on the other, to the influence of fresh currents coming from the mountain.

The products of Orlandi Contucci Ponno
The History
It was due to his ties with France, where he lived for many years, that Corrado Orlandi Contucci, a diplomat of Tuscan origins, decided to plant Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Verdot and Merlot a stone’s throw from the Teramo coast, with the hunch that the gravelly soils of the family estates resembled those of the Medoc. By producing Liburnio starting in the 1960s, he created a trend parallel to the Bolgheri experience with qualitative results of the highest level. The work in the winery is coordinated by the oenologist Francesco Polastri and by Marina Orlandi Contucci, Corrado’s heir, who continued working in the winery even after the sale to Agricole Gussalli Beretta in 2007.
Terroir & Winery
The winery consists of a single body of thirty hectares that stands out in the middle of an area, that of Roseto degli Abruzzi. The sea is about a handful of kilometers away, but the elements that define the landscape are the Gran Sasso and the hill on which the village of Montepagano stands.
