The La Fornacella winery, owned by the Ciacci family, farmers for many generations, is located in Montalcino in Tuscany in the South-East area, at an altitude of approximately 300m above sea level. Here, on two and a half hectares of land, exclusively Sangiovese grapes are produced.
Marco Ciacci founded the winery in 1990, but embodies and transmits all the heritage of the best local peasant tradition, as well as the family background of several generations of farmers. Marco’s Brunello has been defined by some authoritative magazines as an “…ancient wine…” and “…the flavor of the Brunello of the past…”.
There are three vineyards in production, one in Montalcino adjacent to the winery and two in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, in the surroundings of the ancient abbey of Sant’Antimo, about 400 m above sea level. The latter, due to the conformation and characteristics of the soil, add power and character to the elegant and fruity grapes harvested in the Montalcino vineyard.
