Located at the foot of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, in the Mugello region, the Podere Fortuna winery was one of the pioneers in the cultivation of Pinot Noir, a noble variety originally from Burgundy, with extraordinary organoleptic potential but complicated production. This vine has found an ideal environment in the cool climate of Northern Tuscany.
The farm, located in San Giusto a Fortuna, and which was once owned by Lorenzo the Magnificent, now belongs to the Lowenstein family, who has always had a great passion for the Mugello area. Fascinated by the history and natural beauty of this area, the family decided to fully enhance the estate, making significant changes, including the transition to organic farming.
The vinifications are carried out separately and all the Pinot Noir ferments in truncated cone wooden vats at a controlled temperature, only with indigenous yeasts. The wines mature in medium toasted French oak barriques for approximately one year, followed by six months of maturation in cement, during which spontaneous and natural clarification occurs. Each single parcel will give a different interpretation of Pinot Noir.
