Podere La Castellaccia (Alessandro Tofanari)

On the hills of San Gimignano, the famous medieval town halfway between Florence and Siena, lies Podere La Castellaccia; the winery takes its name from a 9th century fortress, destroyed and rebuilt several times, which today consists of a farmhouse and a barn. Alessandro and Simona, spouses and close-knit winemakers, grow cereals, olive trees and 8 hectares of vineyards in this uncontaminated place, producing Vernaccia di San Gimignano in different versions.
