In Val di Pesa, an enchanting corner of Chianti Classico is home to Podere la Villa and its seven hectares of vineyards. Here Giacomo Tachis revived just over one hectare of old vineyard and in 2007, on the occasion of the birth of his first grandson, the first harvest was vinified and the Chianti Classico “Pargolo” was born.

The products of Podere La Villa
The History
In 2003 Giacomo Tachis replanted a small old vineyard in front of Podere La Villa with Sangiovese and Merlot. The first harvest in 2007 coincided with the birth of the first grandson Riccardo and for this reason the wine was called Pargolo; the estate has been followed over the years by Ilaria Tachis, Giacomo’s daughter and Riccardo’s mother, and her husband Raffaele, who expanded it with the purchase of another six hectares of vineyards and with the production of a pure Merlot, this time named after his father “Giacomo”.
Terroir & Winery
The estate is located immersed in the Chianti Classico hills, between 250 and 350 meters above sea level, in the municipality of San Casciano In Val di Pesa and has a total of 10 hectares, which includes vineyards, olive groves, woods and a small lake . The 7 hectares of vineyards are cultivated with Sangiovese, Merlot, a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon and more recently a small part of white grape varieties to obtain a traditional vinsanto.
