The History
In 1877, two cousins, Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino, realized their dream of creating great wines by founding a small winery in Pontassieve, near Florence. The region already had a long tradition of high-quality wines and thriving vineyards. Ruffino consolidated its reputation both nationally and internationally thanks to the numerous awards obtained by the Ruffino Chianti since the end of the nineteenth century, becoming the first Chianti to be imported into the United States.
Terroir & Winery
The Ruffino estates are located in the most famous areas of Tuscan viticulture: from Chianti Classico, to Montalcino, to Bolgheri, to the Maremma, to Montepulciano, with a production of wines of the great regional tradition, ranging from the more immediate ready-to-drink ones, to the historical reserves and the Supertuscans.
