For over three decades the family has tended their vineyards in Val Venosta, an area characterized by a sunny alpine climate, adopting a unique and creative approach.

The History

The Stachlburg is a typical Tyrolean castle from the 13th century which was initially a ministerial seat and was purchased in 1540 by the Von Stachelburg family. The winery was officially founded in 1990 by Sigmund Kripp, who after several studies in Germany took over his father’s land holdings, planting the first Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyards.

Terroir & Winery

The perfect combination of the cold Alpine winds with the beautiful full sun exposures are the strong point of the four winery vineyards, located between 600 and 700m above sea level, cultivated mainly with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but also Merlot, Sauvignon, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Bianco and Regent, with two small areas dedicated to Riesling and Johanniter. winery with organic certification since 1998.
