The history of Tenuta Ornellaia coincides with the transformation of the Bolgheri region from a wild area, kingdom of cypresses, maritime pines, olive trees and Mediterranean scrub, into one of the privileged cradles of Italian wine.

The History
The winery originates from a bold vision of Ludovico Antinori, who planted the first Bordeaux vines on his lands in Bolgheri in the early 1980s. From the beginning the objective has been the pursuit of excellence, which over the years has been widely recognized by international critics. Today, after a notable success, the management of the winery has been taken over by the Tuscan Frescobaldi group.
Terroir & Winery
The Tenuta dell’Ornellaia extends over an area of approximately 130 hectares, of which approximately 90 are dedicated to vineyards. Here sustainable and organic agriculture is employed with advanced techniques to ensure the exceptional quality of the grapes. Furthermore, the winery is equipped with a cutting-edge winemaking system, which allows careful and precise control of all production processes.
