The History

The current sixteenth-century manor house was built on the foundations of an estate dating back to 1346, when the land belonged to the Buondelmonti family, like a good part of Val di Pesa. In the 17th century it passed to a branch of the Medici, who named it Fonte dei Medici, and finally to the Antinori family in the mid-1800s.

Terroir & Winery

The soil, of Pliocene origin with a skeleton rich in alberese and marl, at an average height of 350m above sea level, and the marked temperature range between day and night, give the grapes unique characteristics. Both the native Sangiovese variety and the international Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc varieties are cultivated, which have found magnificent expression here. The cultivation is completed by small parcels of Malvasia and Trebbiano for the production of Vinsanto.
