Lessona “Omaggio a Quintino Sella” DOC 2011
71,50 €
Tenuta Sella is located in the heart of Northern Piedmont, where, way back in 1671, Comino Sella acquired the first vineyard in the municipality of Lessona.
A notarial document from 1671 attests that Comino Sella acquired vineyards in Lessona as an investment. From then on, the management of the vineyards has always been carried out by the family as a parallel activity to its main ones (textile industry, banking institution). Around 1930 Venanzio took over the management of the winery, later becoming one of the protagonists in the achievement of the DOC Lessona (in 1976) and Bramaterra (in 1979). His son Fabrizio takes over as head of the winery.
In the Lessona wine-growing area the main soils consist of Pliocene sands of marine origin, while in the valleys there are deposits of marine sand containing shell fossils. The territory of Bramaterra extends over a vast area with large wooded areas. This area is characterized by red porphyries of volcanic origin, with the presence of sands and clays of marine origin.
