The History
In 1997, twenty-seven year old Filippo Manetti created Vigne di San Lorenzo in Brisighella, where at the time there were only cooperative wineries and the historic Castelluccio winery. He purchased the farm in Borgo Campiume and built the winery there, transforming it into a home and agritourism. Subsequently the farm was sold for family reasons and Filippo set up a new winery in Fognano di Brisighella. From the initial 300 bottles Vigne di San Lorenzo now produces around 20,000, but the artisan spirit has remained absolutely the same.
Terroir & Winery
The cultivation of Sangiovese, Albana and Trebbiano was initially accompanied by Cabernet, Merlot and Malbo. Filippo then decided to uproot the last ones to dedicate himself completely to the native ones, with which two lines are created: one with fermentation in Georgian amphorae and long macerations, the other with the use of steel and large oak barrels. The whole process, in the vineyard and in the winery, is as natural as possible, and the result is healthy and expressive wines, full of vitality and complexity but with extreme cleanliness and elegance.
