The History
The winery was founded at the end of the 19th century, although the vineyards have been owned by the family since the 17th century. After the great success of the early twentieth century, the winery went through a period of decline. Ciro Biondi will carry out the restructuring and rebirth of the winery in 1999, with great work in the vineyards and winery.
Terroir & Winery
There are 3 vineyards, 3 are Crus: Chianta and Cisterna Fuori, both at 600-700 meters above sea level and sitting on a crater dating back to 125 BC, but each with its own peculiarities; the first more suitable for white grape varieties, the second for Nerello. San Nicolo’, located at the same altitude, lies on a crater dating back to 12,000 years ago and is cultivated with Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio.
