The History

Franco Ziliani, well-known owner of Guido Berlucchi and pioneer of the Classic Method in Franciacorta in the 1960s, undertook a bet in the 2000s on the promising territory of Bolgheri in Tuscany with the aim of making excellent red wines. Thus, Tenuta Caccia al Piano was born in 2003, from the restoration of an ancient hunting fiefdom in 1868. Today Franco Ziliani’s legacy is in the hands of his children: Cristina, Arturo and Paolo.

Terroir & Winery

Two vineyards of 3 hectares, one of 5 and one of 12, in each one specific varieties are cultivated depending on the characteristics of the terroir, texture and morphology of the soil and exposure of the rows. The grapes are typical of the Bolgheri area: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Petit Verdot, plus the two white grapes Vermentino and Sauvignon Blanc.
