Castello Nipozzano

Located in the Chianti Rufina area, the Nipozzano Castle was used as a defensive fortress for Florence since 1000 AD. and became the property of the Frescobaldi family from the 19th century. Great foresight belonged to a Frescobaldi ancestor, who in 1855 invested 1000 silver florins to cultivate Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, varieties hitherto unknown in Tuscany.
