The History
Descendant of a family with over 170 years of winemaking tradition, Giacomo Rallo founded Donnafugata in 1983, together with his wife Gabriella, a pioneer of female viticulture. Currently their sons José and Antonio lead the winery, assisted by a group of close-knit professionals.
Terroir & Winery
The vineyards are cultivated in very diverse contexts, taking full advantage of the extraordinary characteristics of the island. From coastal and hilly lands to mountain vineyards, the research is based on the perfect synergy between terroir and vines. The estates embrace the entire island, from the western ones of Contessa Entellina and the volcanic island of Pantelleria, to the eastern estates of Vittoria (Acate) and Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe.
