Christian Kerschbaumer, who initially seemed more attracted to cars and engines, over the years rediscovered the family’s winemaking tradition, and his passion for the vine slowly reawakened in him. Today he is a talented young winemaker who takes complete care of the family farm, from the field to the winery.

The products of Garlider
The History
Christian’s grandfather had three hectares of meadows, wheat, fruit trees, a few cows and a few vines for family consumption. When the cooperative winery was born in the valley, the number of vines increased, and so did his father. By the end of the 1970s all the meadows had been converted into vineyards. At fourteen Christian was already working in the winery, while attending agricultural school. Then a parenthesis in a workshop, where a great passion for motorbikes was born, believing that this would be his future… but only until 2003, the year in which Christian decided to bottle his wine.
Terroir & Winery
The Garlider farm is located in Feldthurns, just above Chiusa, in the heart of the Isarco Valley, in Alto Adige. The vineyard area is approximately 4 hectares, planted with Grüner Veltliner, Sylvaner, Pinot Grigio, Müller Thurgau, Gewürztraminer, with a small production of Pinot Noir. The entire production philosophy is based on maximum naturalness and craftsmanship, to ensure that the wine , as Christian says “don’t lose your soul”.
