9 Lacrima di Morro d'Alba DOC, 2022
16,90 €
The Lacrima di Morro d’Alba was about to disappear from its territory, but the dream of Luigino and his son Piergiovanni preserved it and transformed the hills of Montignano into a unique place, giving us a wine that symbolizes the profound bond between a man and his land.
The history of the winery begins at the beginning of the 1900s with Filippo Giusti who, having returned after years as a migrant to America, bought a small plot of land. In the 1930s he began growing vines, which his son Luigi would continue. Luigi and Maria Giusti then took over the historic winery of Castelferretti in the 1950s, located in front of the 14th century castle, and there the grapes from the Castellaro vineyards were transformed year after year until the entry of Piergiovanni, the latest generation.
The vineyards extend over the hills of Castellaro, in the municipality of Senigallia, within the DOC Lacrima di Morro d’Alba area, near the sea. They practice green manure and use only organic fertilizers and copper and sulfur-based products, avoiding herbicides. The fermentation of the red grapes takes place at a controlled temperature for approximately 20/24 days, using wooden or steel vats. The maturation then takes place in steel, concrete or wooden containers, of various sizes, for 4/10 months, depending on the type of wine and the vintage. This flexible approach respects and enhances the unique characteristics of each vintage.
