The De Bartoli winery was founded in 1978, when Marco, a young man with a degree in agronomy and a passion for racing cars, took control of the Baglio Samperi, a family estate where the grapes for the production of the wine had been grown for more than two centuries. Marsala. At that time Marsala was declining as was the family property, but Marco De Bartoli quickly reinvigorated production, focusing on quality and ancient and virtuous traditions. Marco De Bartoli has become a legendary figure, and his innovative production techniques, based on tradition, have become a point of reference throughout the territory. An example is the introduction of the Soleras method, which was brought to Sicily by Benjamin Ingham in 1812 and brought back to life by Marco in the 1970s.
