The Materossi family has owned the Monte Cicogna farm for four generations. The winery is located in Lombardy in the municipality of Moniga del Garda, on the western shore of Lake Garda. The vineyards are located around the winery, in an elevated position towards the lake, and inland near Monte Cicogna.

The History
In 1908 Pietro Materossi began his business on the Garda Riviera, delivering wine to local taverns with his horse-drawn cart. In 1920, his sons Luigi and Alessandro expanded the business and purchased the Monte Cicogna estate in Moniga del Garda, starting the first winemaking operations. In 1948 Pierino Materossi succeeded Alessandro and Luigi, and in 1980 the winery gained recognition thanks to Luigi Veronelli. Since 1994 Pierino’s sons, Alessandro and Cesare, have fully entered the winery, also creating a wine in honor of the founder.
Terroir & Winery
We are in Valtenesi, on the western shore of Lake Garda in an area particularly suited to the cultivation of vines and olive trees due to the privilege of the Mediterranean microclimate given by the influence of the lake and the belt of wooded hills behind it. The soil of morainic origin is of clayey limestone type with differences depending on the farms.
