The History
The beginning is due to grandfather Antonino, who in the early twentieth century built the first winery, which then passed as an inheritance to his daughters Nunzia and Grazia upon his death in 1964. In 1972 Nunzia and her husband, Raffaele d’Amico, renovated the the current Leni winery and registered the vineyards in the Malvasia delle Lipari DOC register. In the same year his son Salvatore actively entered the estate and in 1976 he completed some experiments and modifications based on local oral and archival traditions, which since then gave a new imprint to the estate, one that we still find today in the great quality of its wines.
Terroir & Winery
Over the years the vineyard area has gradually increased and from the first hectare we have reached the four today. The planting of new vineyards required a lot of effort due to the morphology of the land, which made the creation of terraced systems particularly laborious by restoring the old centuries-old dry stone walls, along which caper plants grow spontaneously. Malvasia, Mascalese, Insolia and Catarratto make up the four estate labels.
