Aquileia, an important archaeological site and small country town, was one of the most important cities of ancient Rome and was already renowned for its wines. The Greek historian Herodian (170 – 250 AD) described the countryside of Aquileia surrounded by green garlands of leaves: he was referring to the vineyards.

The History
Grandfather Igino and father Sabino learned the art of cultivating vines directly in the fields; Francesco instead studied oenology and worked in prestigious wineries in the area, with experience also in Argentina and the United States. From these two complementary directions, the experience of the Tarlao estate takes shape today, strong in its solid peasant tradition and cutting-edge winemaking knowledge.
