The History
Raffaele Troisi, an established winemaker of the Vadiaperti estate, bottled the first bottle of pure Coda di Volpe with his father Antonio in 1993; since then the two have focused heavily on this historic Irpinian vine, making many efforts to find pieces of vineyards or even single rows from which to take the grapes to make the wine. In 2011 Raffaele, with Giuseppe, Irene and Claudio, founded Traerte, with the intention of carrying forward that recovery and valorization project, also extending it to the other historical vines of Irpinia.
Terroir & Winery
The area is predominantly mountainous-hilly and the position is strategic from both a pedological and climatic point of view. On the one hand the volcanic phenomena that have shaped such a rich and mineral soil, on the other the proximity to the sea and the Apennines create a unique microclimate that favors the optimal development of the vine.
