The History
Rikka Sukula, a Finnish woman who imports wines for distribution in Finland, becomes irremediably enchanted after a trip to Piedmont for work and in 2005 finds an abandoned farm in Serralunga d’Alba. She decides to restore it together with her husband, the well-known Finnish chef Jyrki Sukula, and in 2007 they will bottle their first Barolo.
Terroir & Winery
Rikka and Jyrki do everything in the vineyard themselves, from pruning to harvesting, with just one helper driving the tractor. They work more than two thousand hours a year in the vineyard. They produce a few thousand bottles of Barolo Meriame, a Barbera d’Alba, and a Nebbiolo also made on the Cru Meriame, which are vinified by La Spinetta.
