Barbera d’Alba Cru Meriame DOC 2022

The “Meriame” vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba, one of the Additional Geographical Mentions (the so-called “Cru”) foreseen for Barolo Docg, extends between 230 and 360 metres above sea level with an exposure between west and south-west: from a very small portion of this vineyard come the grapes used to produce this Barbera d’Alba Doc aged for about a year in barriques before bottling. No clarification or filtration.

On the nose, it opens intense, fine and deep with a burst of ripe cherry, blackberry and blueberry fruit. This is followed by spicy notes of nutmeg as well as typical slightly earthy hints of red flowers; the bouquet is enriched by delicate sensations of vanilla from the ageing in small wood. On the palate, it is striking for its structure and juiciness, for its pulpy mouthfeel, well balanced by acidity and savouriness, as well as an important tannic fabric.
